At BoulderHouse, we foster a love of bouldering, provide a supportive and inclusive community, and aim to inspire a lifelong passion for the sport. These values are the motivation behind this new recreational program for kids. The Youth Recreational Program introduces kids to the world of bouldering by teaching them the techniques necessary for success on a climbing wall. It starts with understanding the basic motor skills and physical literacy, builds toward a shared appreciation for teamwork and community, and culminates in independent, self-directed climbing.

Kids will be coached by BoulderHouse Ambassador Tosh Sherkat. Tosh started climbing at the age of 10 through recreational climbing programs in his hometown. He competed on the Canadian youth climbing circuit and has had the opportunity to work with high-level coaches and athletes nationally and internationally. Tosh continues to train to achieve his goals of competing on the world stage and climbing the world’s hardest routes. He’s excited to share his knowledge of climbing to the youth of Victoria!

The fall semester runs October 7–February 13. The winter semester runs February 17–June 25. There are no classes during Christmas week and Spring Break. At the end of each semester, your child will receive a Progress Report Card outlining their continual development in our Bouldering Skills framework.
