COVID-19 Updates and FAQ
To our valued community of members,
Our priority is always the safety of our members, staff and our community. Maintaining clear and transparent lines of communication during this uncertain time is also very important.
As we continue to monitor developments around the world and in our communities, we want to provide you with an update about how the COVID-19 outbreak will affect our business operations.
While the Public Health Agency of Canada continues to monitor and provide guidance in regards to the current outbreak of COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close BoulderHouse effective tomorrow, Mar.16th. Along with CragX, this is a proactive closure in an effort to do our part in slowing down the transmission of COVID-19 in our communities. To be clear, we are not currently aware of any cases of COVID-19 within BoulderHouse or within our community of members.
We will be closed temporarily until further notice. Our decision on when to re-open will be based on the updates and guidance provided by the Public Health Agency of Canada and their assessment of the evolving situation across Canada. We will also rely on the guidance of the health and municipal authorities here in BC. In the meantime, we will continue to monitor this rapidly evolving situation and will provide updates to our member community as they become available.
The decision to close is not one we take easily or lightly. The livelihoods of many people, many or all of whom are well known to our members, depend on BoulderHouse remaining open.
Our family is committed to supporting our incredible employees throughout this closure, and for this reason we took the time to assess the impact that this voluntary action would have on them.
All memberships will be put on pause for this temporary closure. Cancellation requests will not be possible during this period.
We will also take advantage of this period to do a deep-clean of the gym. We will make sure to open with a “reset”. Please stay informed, stay calm and stay healthy,

Supporting the gym
We recognize this is a time of great uncertainty for many, but we remain incredibly grateful for our amazing community and the messages of support we have received in the last week. Many of these messages were from members who have volunteered to keep their membership active throughout this crisis as a way of supporting BoulderHouse through this confusing time. We can’t begin to express how much this means to us!
If you are financially able to keep your membership going, please fill out this form! For every month paid, BoulderHouse will donate a month of climbing to a member who can no longer afford to climb.
If you are looking for another way to help, please consider purchasing a gift certificate here, which we’ll be happy to redeem for you once we re-open.
No need to worry. When we officially reopen, we will adjust the end date of all prepaid memberships to compensate for the exact duration of the closure.

If you are unable to continue your membership currently, we understand! If this is the case, we still ask that you please use the form found at the bottom of this page to update your membership status. At this time, membership freezes will be of no charge.
Classes have been postponed due to the closure of the gym. All people signed up for courses before the gym closure will be booked for the same course when we reopen.
YOUTH rec program
All pairs of shoes that were dropped off for resole before the gym closed will be ready and available for pick up when the center reopens. It will not be possible to pick them up before then. In case of an emergency, please contact West Coast Resoles.
