The TreeHouse is a long awaited dream fulfilled for both co-owners of BoulderHouse, Rob Somogyi and Jean-Marc De la Plante. Both climbers with families of their own, they hope to share their passion for the sport with the next generation.
Whether you're looking to get your child's climbing journey started, or you're looking for more things for your child to climb - the TreeHouse has something for everyone.
Beyond it's physical nature, bouldering presents a problem solving compenent as well that is a great opportunity for children to challenge themselves.
We set using specific colours of climbing holds to differentiate the 'boulders' on the wall. In order to get to the top of the climb, you must solve the sequence of moves you will need to execute!
A portion of the wall is refreshed with new climbs in the TreeHouse most Fridays between September and June, keeping the boulders new and exciting every time!
Like the rest of BoulderHouse, the TreeHouse is designed with the same colour coded climbing circuits in mind.
These circuits include 5-6 problems that are carefully crafted each week for young climbers with a varied set of challenges from technical and balanced climbing to powerful overhanging climbs that put your finger strength to the test.
By progressing through each complete circuit, our vision is to help youth develop a well rounded set of skills!
One of our coaches will provide a brief introduction and instructions regarding the rules and safety regulations, and then you will be left on your own with your child/dependent to climb. The staff will be available at all times to answer any questions or provide tips or advice with climbs! You will be responsible for your child/dependent at all times, but are also welcome to join the fun and climb with them.
To view the current TreeHouse drop-in schedule, click the Home icon in the upper ribbon of our website and scroll to the bottom of the page.
Taking advantage of the dedicated space, the TreeHouse is able to host a variety of youth climbing programs that range from entry level afterschool programs to training-focused rcereational and competitive teams.

Learn MoreAt both BoulderHouse locations, our child policy limits climbing on the main spaces to those older than 12. However, if your child is ready to move on from the TreeHouse before turning 13, they can attempt a TreeHouse Exam. During the exam, one of our coaches will ensure that your climber has an understanding of safe, respectful climbing. No skill prerequisite is required.
You can request a TreeHouse Exam at any time during TreeHouse drop-in hours, however, you may be asked to wait or return another time if the space is especially busy. The TreeHouse Exam takes place entirely in the TreeHouse. Anybody can take a TreeHouse Exam, however, we recommend that climbers be at least 8 years old with lots of indoor climbing experience.
The TreeHouse is not intended for kids younger than 3. If your child is 5 or younger, we recommend you drop in on a weeknight as the space can be fairly busy on weekends!
Yes. Anyone who is climbing will need a signed waiver. If you haven’t completed a waiver, for you or your child/dependent sign one HERE ! Waivers expire and need to be re submitted every year, so please don't be surprised if you are asked to fill out another one at some point.
There's no strict dress code to climbing, but since it is quite active - we suggest you wear clothing you are comfortable being active in. We provide rental climbing shoes!
No you cannot - waivers can only be signed by legal guardians. Luckily, our waiver system is fully digital! All you have to do is send this link: WAIVER

All participants in TreeHouse Programs get free climbing for the duration of their course. For those who aren't enrolled in a TreeHouse program, two membership options are available for TreeHouse climbers:
Monthly memberships must be billed to a valid credit card. A one-time EFT start up fee of $60 may apply. TreeHouse memberships can only be held by youth 12 and under, and they can only be used in the TreeHouse. Adults, or those wishing to have access to the main walls, must purchase a regular BoulderHouse membership.
Safety (and fun) are our number one priorities and we have a process to ensure that kids are ready to climb downstairs. Kids are encouraged to climb in the TreeHouse as the climbs have been designed specifically with kids in mind, down to the the same wall angles and technical progression!
Kids 12 and under must pass a TreeHouse Exam to climb with the adults on the main walls at either BoulderHouse location. You can request a TreeHouse Exam on your next visit to the TreeHouse.
If you are dropping in with your child/dependent, you will have to remain in the TreeHouse with them at all times. However, you are welcome to join the fun and climb! We do our best to provide climbs that are fun and challenging for climbers of all sizes and skill levels in the TreeHouse.
