About the Instructor

Shota has been climbing for 9 years, and while he was originally a competitive swimmer, he was instantly hooked to climbing shortly after visiting his local climbing gym for the first time.

A future school teacher, Shota has a passion for coaching and imparting skills to the next generation. His first teaching experience was as assistant coach to his former swim team and he has since worked with kids and adults of all ages. Shota first started climbing at the Prince George gym he frequented, and enjoyed the process of learning how to climb, progressing, and eventually even competing in local competitions. Now, with several years of experience in the sport, Shota is eager to teach what he’s learned to everyone who is interested.

“I’m thankful to have found climbing when I did. It made me stronger, built up confidence, and has allowed me to make some amazing memories with friends. My goal when I teach people how to climb is that hopefully through climbing, they may find the same impact the sport had on me.”
